Lux Lunching

Good food and wine, good company and a beautiful view.

Short Copenhagen Visit

I saw lots of bikes, Sara and Casper, and the elephants bathing in Frederiksberg Have.

Copenhagen is so familiar, yet so foreign to me. It's where I grew up but I always feel like a tourist when I visit. I guess I need to visit more often!

I want a dog

This is my aunt and uncle's dogs; Amelie and Puch (not sure how to spell it). Huskies are maybe the most beautiful dogs I can think of and so friendly too.

I love Amelie's pose.

I really would love to have a dog, but it just wouldn't work with my lifestyle at the moment. Instead I am trying to convince my parents to get one.

Kildevœnget 6

This is my grandparents' house. When I was growing up in Copenhagen, I spent many of my weekends here. I used to think the 1 hour long car journey from Copenhagen was sooo long and boring, but it was always worth it in the end. My three cousins all lived nearby so we would all gather at my grandparents house, my granddad even built us our own house in the back garden.

I finally managed to arrive in

Denmark!

For a while I wasn't quite sure if the ash cloud would ever let me leave Oslo, I loved being in Oslo and the weather and company was excellent. But I really did want to celebrate my granddad's 87th birthday, with the rest of my family, at Kildevœnget 6.

Offline

After an extended stay in Oslo (thank you Eyjafjallajökull), I am now leaving Oslo in the morning to celebrate my grandfather's birthday in Denmark. I'll be without Internet until Tuesday (!) but I'll post lots of pics from trip when I'm back online.

Flowery Day

Today was a quiet day. I had a lovely afternoon nap, did some work and am planning on just lazing in front of the TV tonight.

out walking

I'm determined to make the most of my extra time in Oslo, so I went for a beautiful walk this afternoon. Immilie and I walked around Bygdøy for a couple of hours and I loved it there. It's so nice to sit and stare at the sea, breathe fresh air and walk in the forest - I really miss that in London.

This picture makes me want to get a dog.

Planefree

I was supposed to fly back to London today but because of the ash cloud I'm staying in Oslo for longer than planned - I'm askefast (ashstuck), as they say here in Norway. Luckily the sun is shining from a planefree sky and I'm going to go for a walk with a friend now.

Norwegian Woods

I love the wooden houses they have here in Norway.

på tur

Today I went for a little walk around Bestum, which is the part of Oslo where Cecilie lives.

It's so much fun getting to know my camera.

Gigging

Undercover Martyn from Brian Philip Davis on Vimeo.

Last night I went to see Two Door Cinema Club play at Blå in Oslo. They were good live but I felt that all their songs blended into one after a while. I loved how efficient the Norwegians were at putting on a show; the sound and lighting was great but unfortunately it was full of tall Scandinavians so I didn't get to see much.

My new job

I'll be working for these two guys, three days a week, starting the 3rd of May. I'm so excited about it and I sometimes can't believe how everything just worked out so perfectly. I resigned from my last job about two weeks ago, and thanks to an introduction from a good friend of mine, I met up with Bonney&Klein the following day. Now I'll be working for them, learning lots of things about documentary making!

I feel very lucky and excited to see what and where this will lead to.

Fantastisk!

This note note made me smile today... and I love my shoes!

These drawings at Olivia's kindergarden also made me smile, of course Olivia's is the one that is almost completely pink.

Sunny day in the suburbs

There is nothing like the first days of spring in Scandinavia...

Guess what her favourite colour is?

Scandinavian hygge

To me this image defines the meaning of the Danish/Norwegian verb: hygge. It basically means creating a cosy atmosphere at home or with friends and family and often involves lots of licorice. We watched The Informant and I didn't like it too much, the soundtrack was quite interesting though.

When I'm not working with Cecilie, I'll be working on my new crochet project using these beautiful coloured yarns I bought in London the other day. The yarn was sold lose, so I had to roll them myself. I quite like the process of preparing for a new project though, plus it's a lot cheaper to buy yarn this way!

I've arrived in

...and so has the sun!

I'm staying in Oslo with my good friend Cecilie for the next ten days or so. We're going to be working on our next venture, which I'll post more about in the coming days.
