Hackney Christmas Market

Tomorrow me and my friend Steph will be sharing a booth at Handmade Hackney Christmas Market I'm really looking forward to spending the day with Steph, meeting new people and hearing what they have to say about my products. I'm also looking forward to a little break from work, as it's been pretty busy lately.

I'm mostly going to be selling my heart kits (abvove), some screen prints (below), Steph will be selling some really cute handmade and hand screen printed tote bags, so if you're in the area, please come by and say hello, and if not all my products are available from my online shop.

Xmas Market in Luxembourg

I'm taking part in a Xmas market in Luxembourg next week. It was organised by Linda and my friend Anatoli is also taking part. If you're in Luxembourg you should come by and say hello - you might even be able to find a Christmas present or two!

Screen Printing Heart Kits

I've been spending quite a bit of time at my studio screen printing things for the Christmas Markets. I honestly don't think I could ever get tired of it, it's so much fun.

Here are a couple of images showing how the Christmas Heart Kits are made.

First you expose the screen - I haven't got any photos of that as you have to move quickly and there is no time to stop and take pictures.

Then you fix the screen to the screen bed, and place your fabric underneath.

Then you move the screen down on top of your fabric, add the ink to the top of the screen and use the squeegee to move the ink down the screen.

The squeegee squeezes the paint through the mesh where the emulsion has been washed off (during the exposing process) and leaves a (hopefully) neat image on the fabric.

Then you need to leave it to dry on the drying racks and then it needs to be heat treated in order for the ink to be permanent. I'm off to South East London to do that tomorrow. Finally they're packed together with everything else you need and end up looking like this.

Christmas Crochet Workshop

I like to do things at the last minute and so I've just decided to host a Christmas Crochet Workshop on the 19th of December in Luxembourg. The crochet workshop is suited for beginners as well as improvers and we'll be making Christmas decorations such as hearts, mistletoe and baubles, perfect for the Christmas tree or table.

Hacking and Knitting

I've always felt there must be some similarity between programming and following a knitting pattern, and now the two have come together and created a hacked knitting machine. How cool is that!?

The Brother knitting machine can be used like a desktop printer and transform any design in to a knitted jumper.

Andrew Salomone is behind this and you can read more about it here, or you can pop down to Hoxton Square to see it in real life.
