Photo Thief

Over the weekend I got an email from one of my readers, who had noticed someone selling a butterfly pattern using my photo.

I can't believe someone would actually do that! Selling a pattern that isn't yours to sell is silly, but being too lazy to take your own photo is even more silly. The butterfly pattern is an old pattern, it's not one that I came up with, and it certainly isn't one jelenateperik made - it's a bit like selling the granny square pattern.

I'm not really sure what to do in these situations? Do I write to her, is there a way to report her on Etsy?

I wonder if the other patterns she's selling are taken from other blogs too?

I really hope no one has payed for the pattern - it's here for free.

  1. How rude. I've been searching, there us a policy for something like this on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/help/article/482 maybe that will help.

  2. That's so rude. I would report her on Etsy. There is a link at the bottom of the listing.

  5. Thanks everyone. I've reported her to Etsy but unfortunately it's not that simple and they can't really do anything... So I've written to her and asked her to remove the photos - fingers crossed she will.

  6. Well, it looks like your message was received. I just checked out her listings and did not see your beautiful butterflies anywhere. Good for you Marie. I look forward to reading your blog. This Alaska girl likes seeing what other ladies around the world are making.

    1. Yes, she replied to me pretty much straight away and took down the photo. She said she got the photo from another blog, which had also referenced me, so that's not really any excuse. Although she took it down, she offered no apology and didn't seem to think she had done anything wrong. Thanks for your comment and for reading my blog Stacey - I hope you like it. x
