I've been doing a lot of sewing lately, which has resulted in lots of tantrums and bad moods. I find it so frustrating when you're dependent on a machine and even more so when the machine is so difficult to understand. Oh and on top of that my instruction manual is only in German, French and Swiss!
I've been having problems with my tension, I tried everything and probably re-threaded the machine about 50 million times, and wasted many evenings in front of it. I finally gave up and made Ben carry it to a repair shop up in Bow, where the most lovely elderly man took one look at it fiddled around with the bobbin and then it was all fine. It didn't even have a problem in the first place, it was just me (or google translate!) who had misread how to thread the bobbin. I was almost a bit disappointed that all my frustration was caused by something so simple! He didn't even charge me.
If you ever have a sewing machine related problem, please go visit Sew Amazing on Roman Road. It's been there since 1947 and he really knows his stuff!
Oh do I ever know what you mean about frustration. I spent an hour yesterday trying to get the threading and tension right on my serger. I was sweating and praying by the time I finally got a passable stitch. If they would just make the pictures larger and more detailed instead of some silly sketch that even with a magnifying glass you still can't figure it out. I guess it wouldn't be life if we didn't have SOMETHING to frustate us!! I am glad you have someone to go to. There are roughly 1 million folks in metro Birmingham area and only one person in a 50 mile radius that does any work on a sewing machine. Good luck and I wish your machine man a LONG life for your sake. Have a Blessed day!

Well at least there are people out there who share our frustrations! I can't believe no one does sewing machine repairs near you, there are quite a few here in East London, but I guess that might be because the textile industry used to be quite big here. Next time you have a problem, you could always give the guy at Sew Amazing a call, I'm sure he has magic sewing machine powers!
Deletemade me giggle! sewing is so frustrating...gave up on it!
