In 50 years time...

My friend emailed me this the other day, saying "I can't help thinking this is you in 50 years time". Well, I really hope so!

Woolly Furniture

I've been doing some research into traditional Icelandic knitting, love icelandic wool and I'm actually going to Iceland on Thursday for a long weekend. I can't wait!

During my research I came across these wolly dressed furniture pieces by Turkish designer Beril Cicek.

Hope you're having a lovely start to the week!

Spring

During the last week or so, the weather in London has been absolutely gorgeous. It's warm and sunny and it makes you wonder how we could put up with winter for so long! I swim in the open air pool in London Fields, all year round (the water is heated). During the winter it takes quite a bit of convincing, I have long discussions with myself trying to find excuses not to go but mostly I end up going - 30mins before it closes... With this weather I really look forward to it; the walk from the showers to the pool is actually a pleasure, rather than a form of torture, and you don't feel like your ears and hair will freeze every time your head goes above the water. The last 200 meters I do back stroke and somehow swimming outside in the middle of Hackney, staring at a blue sky, breathing crisp air and listening to the water, really puts things in perspective for me.

Woolly Comfort Blankets

I love dogs. They make me smile and I can't wait to have my own one day soon. There's a dog that lives on my road, a black lab, he always carries his own lead in his mouth, like he is taking himself out for a walk. He always looks so proud and he definitely knows he's the coolest and smartest dog on the block - you can see it in the way he looks at the other dogs.

If you love dogs too, and you're looking for a new knitting project, then you could have a go at knitting a comfort blanket for a dog at the Battersea Dogs Home in London. I've never been because I'm afraid I'll come back with a broken heart and more dogs than can fit in my apartment. It's a great idea and as soon as I've got my DIY projects under control and can find my knitting needles again, I'm going to give this a go. You can read more about it here.

Tiny Cute Crochet

How cute are these mini crocheted animals!? I just spotted them over on Design Sponge. I love crocheting with thread and have made lots of mini hearts and butterflies, but I've never seen animals crocheted this small. The monkey is just the best. You can see more on the Suami Etsy shop

Home

Last week we had quite a few days of spring weather in London. It's amazing how each year, you can forget what a difference the sun makes. It's definitely worth having the winter, just so you appreciate the spring even more.

Now the sun rises high enough in the sky to light the back of my building and I love the change it makes.

Dark times can make the good times seem even brighter.

Unfortunately my grandad isn't very well at the moment, and I probably won't be posting that often during the next week as I'm going to Denmark to be with my family.
