Last week my dad came over with his van filled up with shelves, table tops and lots of tools! We spent five days painting and drilling and I'm so, so happy with the results. I'll show photos of all the work we did in future posts, but these shelves he built for my kitchen are definitely my favourite. They make that corner much more cosy and I love having the extra storage. The shelves were inspired by the picture below, which I found on Pinterest (it's originally from designspirationsk.com but the domain name has since expired). I sent the image to my dad along with a quick drawing I did in illustrator and the measurements as I wanted the jars and glasses to into the shelves perfectly. The bottom shelf is for cutting boards and the table folds down against the wall. Isn't my dad talented? And to think that his cabinet making skills were wasted all these years he worked as an auditor - but he is certainly making up for it now!

This is what that area of the kitchen/dining room looked like before.
Absolutely brilliant Mary! He's so talented. I bet certain magazines would be very interested in using your flat for photoshoots xx
